India has agreed to play additional Twenty20 International (T20I) matches during its scheduled tour of Sri Lanka in August 2026.

Originally set for a two-match World Test Championship series, the tour will now include extra T20Is specifically to raise funds for victims of Cyclone Ditwah.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC )Chairman Shammi Silva revealed that India had offered to tour as early as late December, but the plan was delayed due to broadcasting and logistics constraints.

SLC also confirmed that profits from the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan will be donated to the national "Rebuilding Sri Lanka" fund.
