The approval rating of the Sri Lanka government has increased to 65% in early February 2026, according to the latest “Mood of the Nation” poll by Verité Research.
With a ±3 percentage point margin of error, the rating remains statistically stable compared to 62% recorded a year ago. The disapproval rating remained unchanged from February 2025.
For the first time in four years, more respondents rated current economic conditions as “good” or “excellent” than “poor”.
Those who said the economy is “getting better” rose to 64%, up from 55% a year earlier. The Economic Confidence Index increased to +36 from +14.
A total of 59% stated they are satisfied with the way things are going in the country, marking the first time satisfaction has exceeded 50% in four years.
The survey was conducted from 24 January to 3 February 2026 among 1,048 adults, with a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.
