The Sri Lankan government has expressed concern over footage allegedly showing the treatment of detainees linked to the “Global Sumud Flotilla.”

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism noted that discussions are ongoing with Israeli authorities to secure consular access to an affected Sri Lankan national.

The Ministry also stated that efforts are underway to ensure the individual’s safety, wellbeing and swift repatriation to Sri Lanka.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Sri Lankan citizens overseas.
