A suspect has been arrested for allegedly excavating land in search of archaeological artefacts in the Kottagala area of the Dambagalla Police Division.

The arrest was made during a raid conducted by Dambagalla Police on 20 June, police stated.

Police also seized excavation equipment believed to have been used in the incident. The suspect, a 51-year-old resident of Namaloya, is under investigation.
