Budding Sri Lankan cricketer Vijayakanth Viyaskanth made his debut in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) representing the franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday (8).
Viyaskanth, the first cricketer from Jaffna to play in the IPL, conceded just 27 runs but was unable to pick up a wicket in his allotted four overs. However, the Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 10 wickets against the Lucknow Super Giants.
With his performance in the IPL, Viyaskanth is likely to be part of Sri Lanka’s 19-member touring squad heading for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in the US and West Indies.
