I’m happy to have learnt even the little I did from Dr. Buddhi Keerthisena at the beginning of my career, but I am saddened that we lost another first generation batik visionary, following Ena de Silva in 2015. I can only hope the new generation batik designers, including myself, can make him proud with our future endeavours for the batik industry in Sri Lanka, as he set a high standard during his time with the craft.
