The National Gem and Jewellery Authority has stated that the stone found in Galaha, Kandy contains a small amount of labradorite embedded in host rock.
Labradorite is a semi-precious feldspar mineral known for labradorescence, according to the Authority’s report.
The Authority has determined that the stone does not have high commercial or market value.
The stone was discovered at a landslide site in Galaha and examined following police notification.
