The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the award of a contract to widen and upgrade a section of William Gopallawa Mawatha in Kandy to a four-lane standard.
The vital road corridor, from kilometre two point nine hundred to three point seven hundred and thirty-six, is set for improvement to ease urban traffic congestion.
The Road Development Authority received five bids under the National Competitive Procurement Procedure.
Based on the recommendations of the high-level procurement committee, the contract, valued at Rs. 696.75 million (excluding Value Added Tax), was awarded to the lowest responsive bidder, M/s Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd.
