Construction of the Kadawatha–Mirigama stretch of the Central Expressway resumes today (17) under President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. 

Work will also begin on the Kadawatha Interchange and first 500 meters, with Rs. 8.6 billion allocated and a $500 million loan from China’s Exim Bank. 

The 37 km section is set for completion by mid-2028.
