• Dinghies, tractors seized during joint operations

A total of 41 persons, along with 11 dinghies and two tractors, have been taken into custody during joint operations carried out by the Sri Lanka Navy, Coast Guard, and the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Department against illegal fishing methods.

The arrests were made during operations conducted from 1 to 15 April across several coastal areas, including Chemmalai, Cheddipalayam, Elizabeth Island, Fowl Point, Clappenburg Point, Uppural, Nandikadal Lagoon, Alampil, Aliya Island, Puduwakattu, Uchchamunai in Puttalam, and Komar Point in Jaffna.

The arrested suspects, along with sea cucumber, commercial explosives, prohibited fishing gear, tractors, and fishing vessels, were handed over to Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Department offices in Mullaitivu, Kinniya, Kodbe, Eechchalampattu, Kalawanchikudi, Kilinochchi, Puttalam, and to the Pulmude Special Task Force for further legal action.
