The Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Association states that daily train services on the Northern Railway Line have dropped from 18 to eight following Cyclone Ditwah.
Association Secretary Kasun Chamara Jayasekara noted that limited services, including the alternate-day operation of the ‘Yal Devi’ Express, are causing inconvenience to commuters.
He also stated that only eight of the 42 daily passenger and freight services previously operating on routes connecting Colombo Fort with Badulla, Matale, Kandy and Hatton are currently running, with the remaining 34 suspended.
