The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to complete the second phase of the Ruwanwella Water Supply Scheme, which had been stalled due to the country's economic crisis.
The project, originally scheduled for completion in 2022, was faced with delays from the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors.
The project is being implemented in two stages, with Stage I already completed and handed over to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) .
The Government will now use local funds to implement Stage II, with an amended total estimate of Rs. 2,147 million.
The project is being carried out by the Korean company M/s Kolon Global Corporation, and is jointly funded by the Korean Exim Bank and the Government of Sri Lanka.
