A Sri Lankan national is reportedly among 58 foreigners injured following air attacks in the United Arab Emirates, according to foreign media reports.
The injuries sustained are said to be minor.
The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) stated that embassy officials have been briefed on emergency protocols.
The Bureau has urged all Sri Lankan migrant workers in the region to immediately contact their respective embassies in case of an emergency.
Amid the prevailing instability, citizens have been advised to limit unnecessary travel and strictly follow instructions issued by diplomatic missions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also issued safety guidelines, urging Sri Lankans to:
Stay updated through reliable local media and official announcements of the host country
Avoid non-essential travel and large public gatherings
Maintain regular contact with the nearest Sri Lankan diplomatic mission
Keep mobile phones fully charged
Carry valid identification and essential travel documents at all times
