Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne made news recently for a completely non-political reason, which was that he enjoys two birthdays.

Usually, birthday wishes are extended on the day of one’s birthday or the day after. However, in Senaratne’s case, his birthday wishes had started to flow in from the day prior to his birthday. 

While Senaratne’s birthday falls on 29 May, birthday wishes for him had started to flow in from 28 May. While some of Senaratne’s close confidants were confused by the birthday wishes received from the day prior to his birthday, it was later learnt that Senaratne’s birthday had been marked as 28 May on Facebook when his proper birthday is on 29 May.

When asked about this, Senaratne had smiled and said that he was a lucky one who received birthday wishes from the day prior to his birthday.
