The Sri Lanka Working Journalists’ Association (SLWJA) has called on Parliament to immediately withdraw the decision to summon two journalists before the Parliamentary Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
The association stated the move threatens media freedom and freedom of expression, following a complaint related to BBC Sinhala's reporting on proceedings involving the National Child Protection Authority.
The SLWJA urged Parliament to halt the summons and called on media organisations and civil society to oppose the move.
