The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has seized a large number of unauthorized cosmetics and improperly labeled food products in a series of raids in Pettah.

Officials found unregistered whitening creams and other cosmetics that pose health risks. 

The raids also uncovered significant quantities of imported chocolates without proper labeling, expiry dates, or ingredient information, which is a violation of consumer protection laws. 

The CAA stated it will continue nationwide inspections to ensure consumer safety and urged the public to report suspicious products via the hotline 1977.
