Chief Inspector of Police Ashoka Ariyawansa, who served as Chief Security Officer to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, has been transferred with immediate effect.

The National Police Commission has approved his reassignment to the Kankesanthurai Police, effective today (01).

Ariyawansa had been part of Wickremesinghe’s security unit for 23 years and held the position of Chief Personal Security Officer for 15 years.

No official reason has been given for the sudden transfer.
