Isabelle Martin, High Commissioner of Canada to Sri Lanka and Maldives says Canada will support rural poverty eradication and low-income family empowerment in Sri Lanka.

She made the statement during a meeting with Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment Dr. Upali Pannila yesterday (18).

The discussion covered Sri Lanka’s “Praja Shakthi” initiative and social security programmes for elderly persons and persons with disabilities.

Canada also agreed to provide technical assistance for rural development and related welfare programmes.
