Sri Lanka received $697.3 million in workers’ remittances in July 2025, up 19.5% from $566.8 million in July 2024, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) reported.
Total remittances from January to July reached $4.43 billion.
From January to July, 173,189 Sri Lankans went overseas for work, and the SLBFE expects $7 billion in total remittances by year-end, with 300,000 departures projected.
Employment opportunities are being facilitated in Japan, South Korea, and Israel under existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
