Sri Lanka is set to host India’s Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on an official visit from 19 to 20 April, in a move expected to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism announced on Friday (17).
The ministry said that Radhakrishnan would hold bilateral discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, continuing a series of recent high-level diplomatic engagements between Colombo and New Delhi.
During the visit, the Indian Vice President is also scheduled to participate in several engagements with political representatives, community leaders, and members of the Indian diaspora in Sri Lanka. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Government of India.
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) are expected to be exchanged during the visit, focusing on enhancing cooperation in key sectors, including development initiatives and projects linked to Cyclone Ditwah rehabilitation, with assistance from the Government of India.
The Ministry of External Affairs of India, in a parallel statement, confirmed that the visit marked the first bilateral visit by an Indian Vice President to Sri Lanka.
