Ex-Sri Lanka skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan’s father, Thuwan Mohammad Junaideen, passed away in Kalutara while receiving treatment at a hospital on Tuesday (7) night.
He was 71 years old at the time of his death. The late Junaideen was also the father of TM Sampath, the young brother of the former Sri Lanka batter cum wicket-keeper, who also played first-class cricket but failed to make the national team as opposed to the gifted talents of his illustrious elder brother.
Tillakaratne Dilshan, the inventor of dilscoop in white ball cricket, quit international cricket eight years ago following a 17-year career and is currently domiciled in Australia, with his one-time actress turned spouse Manjula Thilini and their three kids.
The Daily Morning Sports expresses its deepest sympathies to Tillakaratne Dilshan and his family, over the loss of his father.
