Police reported 43 shooting incidents this year, leaving 30 dead and 22 injured—29 cases linked to organized crime.

In the latest, a man tied to underworld figure Pukudu Kanna and a 70-year-old woman were shot in Kotahena.

Both are hospitalized.

In Chilaw, a woman was injured by her boyfriend with an air rifle before he attempted suicide.

Both are under treatment.
