SLPP MP D.V. Chanaka has challenged Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody to a public debate over alleged corruption in the coal tender process.

Chanaka stated that he is ready to present evidence and called on the Minister to respond on any media platform.

He noted that the coal tender was delayed to September instead of April and alleged that tests at the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant showed the first two coal shipments had calorific values below the required standard.
