Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has urged the government to hold high-level discussions with the United States over a proposed 12.5% labour-related tariff on Sri Lankan exports.
The Chamber noted that the tariff could affect the competitiveness of key export sectors at a time when Sri Lanka is seeking to boost exports, attract investment and create jobs.
It also called for efforts to secure a reduction or removal of the proposed tariff, citing the importance of the US market to Sri Lankan exports.
