Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the Uva, Central and Eastern provinces and Polonnaruwa District after 2.00 p.m. today (8), the Department of Meteorology said.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is possible in some areas of the Uva and Eastern provinces.

Several spells of showers are also expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts.

The public has been advised to take precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
