The Government plans to boost dialysis capacity across hospitals by partnering with private firms.
Currently, 80 hospitals offer dialysis, but demand exceeds supply. Building on successful efforts at Kandy National Hospital, the new scheme will see private partners finance and manage the equipment, while the government provides infrastructure and clinical oversight.
This move aims to improve access for kidney patients and ensure sustainable healthcare services.
The Cabinet has approved the initiative to implement the Public-Private Partnership model.
