The monk, calling himself “Vishwa Buddha”, who was arrested for allegedly behaving in a manner that was deemed offensive to Buddhism, has been granted bail.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis ordered the 34-year-old to be released on bail when the case was taken up yesterday (9).
The monk was arrested on 12 December of last year (2023) at a private establishment in Kalagedihena by the Cyber Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department, acting on a complaint received against the monk who was residing in Ratnapura.
