The Department for Registration of Persons has warned of a financial scam carried out using its name.

The department stated that fraudsters are using hotline number 011 52 26 126 and similar numbers to obtain personal information.

The Department noted that fake mobile numbers and a fraudulent website are also being used, along with a mobile app displaying the state emblem.

The department stated it does not conduct registration for digital or e-National Identity Cards.

The public has been urged not to share personal information via unsolicited calls or suspicious platforms.
