Sri Lanka and Finland sign MoU on political consultation mechanism

Sri Lanka and Finland signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a Political Consultation Mechanism during the second round of bilateral consultations in Helsinki on 25 February.


The MoU sets a structured framework for regular political dialogue and cooperation, strengthening bilateral ties.


Discussions covered trade, investment, tourism, vocational education, maritime cooperation, and mobility for students and professionals.


Sri Lanka requested Finland to consider a visa centre in Colombo to streamline visa processes for students and families.


The Sri Lankan delegation was led by Sugeeshwara Gunaratna, while the Finnish delegation was headed by Jari Sinkari.
