Sri Lanka’s economy expanded by a strong 5.4 percent in the third quarter of 2025, according to the latest National Accounts Estimates released by the Department of Census and Statistics.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at constant 2015 prices rose to Rs. 3,325.6 billion, compared to Rs. 3,154.1 billion in the same period last year.

At current prices, GDP increased by 12.6 percent to Rs. 8,400 billion.

Economic growth was supported by Agriculture, Industry, and Services, which grew by 3.6 percent, 8.1 percent, and 3.5 percent respectively.

Industry was the main driver, led by construction, mining and quarrying, and manufacturing, while agriculture benefited from gains in crop cultivation.

The figures reflect continued economic resilience amid ongoing global challenges.
