At just 13 years old, Gunawardhana Devindya Oshini has made history as the youngest Women International Master (WIM) globally.
Hailing from Sri Lanka, Oshini achieved a FIDE rating of 2121, making her the first female player from her country to surpass the 2100 mark.
Oshini's journey includes key milestones, such as her impressive 2024 Chess Olympiad performance, scoring 8.5 out of 9 games, and securing a bronze medal for Sri Lanka.
She also made history in 2023 by winning the World Cadet Chess Championship (U-12) and becoming the youngest to claim Sri Lanka's National Women’s Chess Championship title.
Under the guidance of her coach, Akila Kavinda, Oshini has shown exceptional growth, setting her sights on becoming the Women’s World Champion.
