Acting Auditor General G.H.D. Dharmapala announced a special audit of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB), reviewing licensing procedures, land rehabilitation, and license conditions over the past five years. 

The audit follows Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) revelations of procedural lapses and governance concerns, with all findings presented to the committee being considered.
