The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is weakening into a depression, but its influence on Sri Lanka is expected to continue today (25), the Department of Meteorology noted.

Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-Western provinces, with rainfall above 75mm possible in some areas.

Winds of around 30–40 kmph may occur at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, North Central and North Western provinces, and Trincomalee, Hambantota and Matale districts.

The public has been advised to take precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
