St. Benedict’s College, Colombo 13, finished runners-up in the Overall Track Events and Overall Relay at the Sir John Tarbat Senior Athletics Championship 2026, while securing second runners-up in the Overall Championship.

The Benedictine athletes recorded a series of strong performances throughout the meet, competing across track and field events.

A key highlight was the performance of Sasindu Hansana Jayasinghe, who was named the Most Outstanding Athlete of the Meet.

Jayasinghe has undergone six years of training and development, progressing from a 4m long jump to a 16.23m triple jump.

The school credited Jumping Specialist Ravindra Weerakkody and the coaching and support staff for their contribution to the athletes’ performances.

The results mark continued progress for the St. Benedict’s College athletics programme, with the team now preparing for its next competitions.
