Sri Lanka Police today (20) inaugurated the Proceeds of Crime Investigation Division (PCID) under the Proceeds of Crime Act No. 05 of 2025.

The new unit, based at the old Police Headquarters, will probe illegal acquisition of funds, property, and assets. SDIG Asanka Karawita has been appointed Director General for three years.

The PCID can coordinate with 34 state institutions, accept public complaints, and freeze unlawfully acquired property for up to 30 days.
