The Irrigation Department has warned of possible major flooding in low-lying areas of the Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretariat Division along the Mahaweli River.

The warning follows heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas of the river over the past few hours.

Residents in affected areas and motorists using nearby roads have been urged to remain highly vigilant and take necessary safety precautions.
