Villagers in Ambokka, Pallepola, are urging the National Building Research Organisation(NBRO) to conduct an immediate safety assessment after heavy rain left the surrounding highlands increasingly unstable. 

A recent landslide killed seven members of one family, with residents saying the family dog helped guide responders to the spot where they were trapped. 

About 80 families have been evacuated to a temple and nearby homes due to the continuing risk. 

While officials have advised residents to remain in shelters, villagers say no formal geological report has been issued and are requesting clear guidance before the school term begins.
