President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said a special, unified operational mechanism beyond routine state administration is needed to restore public life after disasters.

Speaking at the Kandy District Coordinating Committee meeting today, he reviewed progress on restoring roads, electricity, water, fuel supply, irrigation and communications.

The President directed officials to complete road clearing within 25 days, fully restore water supply within three days with interim bowser services, and reinstate electricity through temporary repairs by December 31.

He also stressed prioritising cultivation by urgently identifying arable lands and ensuring irrigation through coordinated action among key agencies.
