Sri Lanka to introduce AI Courses from Grade 8

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a pilot project, granted by President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Education Minister Susil Premajayantha to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses in schools starting from Grade 08. 


This decision aligns with recommendations from the national AI task force and follows the strategic plan for AI education. 


Microsoft will support the initiative, involving a revision of the international syllabus, digitalization of selected schools, and training 100 ICT teachers. 


The pilot project aims to integrate AI education into the national curriculum.
