The Modern Pentathlon Federation of Sri Lanka (MPFSL) successfully concluded the UIPM Coaches Certification Course – Level 1, for the 3rd time, held from 27-31 May, marking a step forward in the nation's sporting development.

The five-day training, conducted under the supervision of renowned UIPM-certified facilitator Liu Shen-Hung, aimed to enhance the capabilities of coaches across Sri Lanka, providing essential knowledge and practical training in all five disciplines of the Olympic sport.

A total of 10 coaches successfully qualified through the programme, representing diverse regions and levels of coaching expertise across the country.

Their participation reflects the growing national interest and commitment to developing Modern Pentathlon at the grassroots and elite levels.

Organised in partnership with the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) and the Asian Modern Pentathlon Confederation (AMPC), the programme was praised for its quality and impact.

“We are thrilled with the outcome of this initiative. It sets the foundation for a new era of professionalism in Modern Pentathlon coaching in Sri Lanka,” said a spokesperson from the Federation. “Our next step is to fast-track the development of full pentathletes across the country.”

The venue collaboration came from Football House Auditorium by Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL), the Department of Sports Development (training facilities), and Julian Bolling Swimming Academy (swimming instruction), while Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo extended its support as hospitality partner.

This collaborative effort demonstrates how aligned efforts from international bodies, national institutions, and the private sector can drive meaningful sports development.
