Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga has made history by becoming the fastest player in ODI cricket to reach the double of 100 wickets and 1000 runs, achieving the feat in just 65 matches.

The 27-year-old reached the milestone during the second ODI against Bangladesh at the R. Premadasa Stadium, surpassing the previous record held by South Africa’s Shaun Pollock, who did it in 68 games.

Hasaranga is now the 70th player in ODI history to enter the elite 100 wickets–1000 runs club, underlining his all-round prowess.

Since debuting in 2017, he has become a key figure in Sri Lanka’s white-ball squads, combining effective leg-spin bowling with valuable lower-order batting.

The series is now level at 1-1, with the final ODI to be played in Kandy, promising a thrilling decider.
