Construction of the Gatambe Flyover in Kandy restarted today(06) under President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Originally funded by a Hungarian loan, the project was halted due to the loan suspension amid the economic crisis.
Construction now continues with Rs. 12.27 billion in local funds and is scheduled for completion in 22 months.
The 374-metre flyover along William Gopallawa Mawatha will include double and three-lane sections, crossing Gatambe Junction and the railway line, aiming to reduce traffic delays between Kandy and Peradeniya.
