The Department of Immigration and Emigration in Sri Lanka has announced special visa measures for foreign nationals affected by the adverse weather.

Travellers unable to depart on or after 28 November due to flight cancellations or travel disruptions will be exempted from visa extension fees and overstay penalties.

In addition, holders of short-term Tourist or Business Visas, and Residence Visa holders, will receive a seven-day grace period to complete extension formalities. 

Tourist Visa extensions can be processed online.

The department stated this measure aims to assist those experiencing unavoidable delays beyond their control.
