The Cabinet has approved a Rs. 2.1 billion development plan to construct key infrastructure for the Faculty of Medicine at Uva Wellassa University.

Though the faculty was launched under the 2023 budget, it currently operates without permanent academic or administrative buildings.

Procurement will begin this year, with full funding spread across the 2026–2028 national budgets to ensure proper functioning of the faculty.
