Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena’s wife, a court employee and a registrar have been further remanded until 20 October by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court in connection with a bribery case.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order after considering submissions by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) and defence counsel.
The suspects were arrested over allegations of giving, receiving, and aiding and abetting the payment of a Rs. 50,000 bribe to secure a lenient sentence in another bribery case involving Sarana Gunawardena.
