Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Anil Jayantha Fernando stated that around 22.8% of Sri Lanka’s employed population is exposed to Generative AI, particularly in professional and office-based occupations.

Addressing the 114th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, he noted that AI is already influencing the country’s workforce and production systems.

The minister stated that Sri Lanka is pursuing a strategy focused on AI adoption and digital transformation while advancing labour reforms aimed at protecting workers and supporting economic growth.
