Former Head of the State Intelligence Service, Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay, yesterday (6) filed a writ petition before the Court of Appeal, through his attorneys, challenging his arrest and detention by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act (PTA) in connection with the Easter Sunday terror attacks of April 2019.
The respondents named in the petition include the Inspector General of Police, Priyantha Weerasuriya, CID Director Shani Abeysekara, Public Security Ministry Secretary Ravi Seneviratne, priest Rohan Silva, and the Attorney General, among others.
