Schools to get solar power from 2024

A project to install solar panels for schools is planned to start in 2024. 


Accordingly, steps have been taken to start a pilot programme in the Minuwangoda Education Division.


This programme has been started according to the instructions of Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.


This decision was taken to provide relief to schools facing high electricity bills.


This will be implemented in schools all over the island from next year.


It is noted that schools with an electricity bill of more than Rs. 20,000 per month in the Minuwangoda Education Division will be chosen to install solar power.
