The Election Commission (EC) stated that 40% of names of divisional-level winners in the local government elections are still pending submission. 

Commissioner General of EC Saman Sri Ratnayake urged prompt action, noting that gazetting is required before the 2 June start of council terms and for appointments of Chairpersons where no party secured a majority.
