Health experts have warned that the next two weeks will be critical for dengue transmission in the Western Province due to a sharp rise in mosquito larval density.

They also noted that hospitals in the province are operating beyond capacity as dengue cases continue to increase.

Sri Lanka has recorded more than 66,000 dengue cases and 46 deaths so far this year, with the Western Province accounting for over half of all infections.
